Subject: British Car Clubs - Building Bright Futures: let's do it again
Hello again; You may remember me from last year when a group of British car club leaders had a crazy idea of bringing British Car Club members together on one day to raise funds for one charity. I'm back and asking you to consider doing it again for 2025. And if you're not the right person to contact within your club, maybe you can forward the note along. The vision was that on May 11-12, 2024, thousands of British car owners across America would click their seat belts, start their LBC engines, and participate in British Car Clubs - Building Bright Futures to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity, while also creating a little publicity for our beloved British cars. The 2024 event did happen: 11 clubs responded that they liked the idea, and I know that two clubs did follow through and raised over $6,000. Not a resounding success perhaps, but maybe we start small and finish BIG. And if 2 clubs can raise this amount, think what 50 clubs or more could do. So, here's another opportunity for us all to make it happen for your local Habitat of Humanity affiliate. The target date is May 17th or 18th - your choice (and not Mother's Day). The goal is to have some fun, raise some money for Habitat, and keep it as simple as possible. Habitat has 1000's of Affiliates across the country and overseas. The idea is that you contact your local Habitat affiliate, design a fundraising event (could be anything), hold the event on May 17 or 18, and give the donations to the Affiliate. Your club can do what ever you like, there are no guidelines. Car show, cars & coffee and pass the hat, tech session, a team build with Habitat, etc.; it's up to you. In 2024, the New Jersey Triumph Association held a tech session which covered sixteen simple steps to get cars ready for the upcoming driving season. In addition, they had a expert presentation on “Motor Oil Basics for Classic Cars”. "This activity offered an opportunity for us to learn something new (or old) about our Triumphs, motor oil and lubricants, enjoy the company of our fellow club members and most of all, donate to a nationally known nonprofit organization in their efforts to build safe, stable and affordable housing here in New Jersey." Well done NJTA !!!
The Cape Cod British Car Club held their 2024 annual meeting with a guest speaker from Habitat of Cape Cod and then did a cruise which included a stop in a Habitat community to meet residents. And then a car show at a Habitat Restore outlet where the public and our members took part in several fundraising games including selecting best car, a drawing for a Yeti cooler, and more. Well done CCBCC!! We hope you and your members will consider the idea and join in. The purpose of the British Car Clubs - Building Bright Futures weekend is to support Habitat for Humanity in their efforts to provide families in need with healthy, affordable places to call home. The only thing that I ask is for you to send me an email in late May telling me what you did and how much you raised. That's it ! Simple and doable. Have fun, do good, and safe driving.
Cheers, CAMERON FERGUSON
